The tracking site of the Transat organisation has published the positions of the fleet. Positions and rankings are published daily at 08:00, 12:00 and 18:00.
Robert is doing fine in the middle of the leading pack in 13th position. Winds are light, so utmost concentration and alertness is essential.
Update: at noon of the first race day Robert moved up to 7th place!
Update from a supporting vessel at 9:25 UT:
“3.7 knots true wind speed @ 55°. Blue sky, beautiful sea, swell 1m.”

18 hours before the start of the Mini Transat Robert Rosen Jacobson and his NED602 are ready. All official tests are passed. Mandatory extra buoyancy has been added. Many briefings are attended.
“Coureurs”, assistants, family, friends, handymen and lots of schoolchildren with life jackets flock the docks and make a great atmosphere on the race pontoon.
The race will start Sunday September 25 at 17h17 local time in La Rochelle. NED602 will leave the dock a couple of hours earlier. As this is Robert’s second Transat he feels less frantic than two years ago. His worries concern the difficult meteorological conditions expected in the first leg to Madeira: light conditions, the uncertain position of a trough in Biscay and headwinds after rounding Cap Finisterre.
As all the boats have trackers you can follow the race on the internet (link will be available after the start) or sail the race in a virtual regatta on your PC.
Competitors are not allowed to communicate during the race, so we will not be able to give you any direct information from Robert until he finishes the first leg in Madeira.
Robert: we all wish you good luck and a save and fast passage!

Sunday the 25th of September 85 Transat650 racing yachts will start at La Rochelle to arrive at Funchal, Madeira around the 2nd of October.
Thursday the 13th of October the fleet will start at Funchal, to arrive around the 3rd of November in Salvador de Bahia, Brasil.
If you are interested to join us in any of these ports, please send an email as we might be able to help you arranging your stay.

Robert Rosen Jacobson is in 2nd place in the largest class of the Transgascogne race, just 5:30 hours after the start. Apparently his choice for the right side of the field has paid off. He told me last night the ship is in top shape and he hopes the huge amount of work put in will pay off. You can follow the race here, keep in mind that the French website guys named him NED607…
Saturday April 30th at 13:00 Robert on NED602 "Marina Oude Tonge" has started the Pornichet Select, a 300nm solo ocean race along the coast of Brittany. Every four hours the position of all ships is marked om this map so you can follow the race in real time.

Last friday at a dinner of the "Noordzeeclub" at the rebuilded KZ&RV "Muiden", Robert Rosen Jacobson received the Magic Machine Cup prize for the best Dutch Shorthanded results in 2010.
In his speech he highlighted some of the typical distinctif characteristics of TRANSAT 650 racing, including the ambiance around the jetties preliminary to and after a race and a video showing the exceptional speed of a TRANSAT 650. Rosen Jacobson is the first TRANSAT 650 sailor winning the cup.
Henk Sol, president of the "Noordzeeclub" handing over the Magic Machine Cup.
The Conny van Rietschoten trofee in Rotterdam was a real big happening, organised by the Stichting CvR and "KRZV de Maas". Piet Vroon won the offshore award and Marit Bouwmeester the Trofee. Not too bad to loose from Piet Vroon…! next time better!
Straight after this price giving event Robert left for France to follow a training of FFVoile, the French "Watersportverbond". This was partly a meteo session, partly a training on the water and partly a race. Both sailing days he sailed on other Transat 650's, as NED 602 is under preparation in Holland. The boat Robert sailed on won the Christmas Trofee!
