The last race of the Mini Transat 650 starts August 1st at 13:02 from Les Sables d’Olonne to the Isle of Faial, one of the islands of the Archipelago de los Acores, somewhere in the Atlantic in the direction of the Caribbean in about 1/3 of the distance.
It is generally foreseen that the distance towards Los Acores will mostly be upwind (a course which is not popular with the Mini Transat). Distance is about 1350 Nautical Miles.
The second “escale”, from the Acores back to Les Sables, will be more in running conditions and take about 7 days.
The NED602 is already 2 months in Les Sables D’Olonne and like for the TRANSAT 2009 to Brasil, the boat is getting prepared there intensively.
This WE I will arrive in Les Sables to do the last intensive preparations and prepare for the security checks during the last week before the start at 13:02 hrs Sunday August 1st, 2010.
We have trackers on board. The information the trackers submit every few hours automatically via satellite to the organisation -f.e. our progress and racing positions- will be displayed on the site of the organisation (first site below).

I am very happy to announce that there is an adapted structure within the Stichting Ocean Speed Challenge, with some new people in it. This will result in a more professional set up. When the organisation has its form, foreseen in September, more will be published about this subject and project.

Transat zeiler Robert Rosen Jacobson als eerste Nederlander op het podium
De Nederlandse MINI TRANSAT zeiler Robert Rosen Jacobson is donderdagnacht in de tweede etappe van de 800 zeemijl lange Mini Pavois race als tweede gefinisht. Daarmee legde hij, als eerste Nederlander ooit, beslag op een knappe 3e plaats in het eindklassement. Read more…

Donderdag 13 mei om 20:40 UTC (22:40 MEST) is Robert als tweede gefinisht in de tweede etappe en heeft de derde plaats overall gepakt!
Maandag 10 mei om 11:00 is de tweede etappe van de Mini Pavois (465 nm) naar La Rochelle gestart in lichte weersomstandigheden. Read more…
Door verwacht stormweer met 45 knopen wind, is de start van zondag 9/5 12:00 uur verplaatst naar maandag 10/5 11:00 uur.
Voorts is de baan veranderd en wordt er niet via Audierne/Brest terug naar La Rochelle gevaren. De baan is nu terug naar La Rochelle en dan via een boei daar (AP) naar het westen, langs de kust naar Belle Ile en de Birvideaux rots met vuurtoren. Daarna weer terug richting La Rochelle waar de finish is van deze 450 mijl lange tweede en laatste etappe. Verwachte aankomst donderdag 13 mei La Rochelle.
Na een spannende eindsprint, waarin Robert ook nog een tijd op de derde plaats gevaren heeft, is hij op een zeer knappe vierde plaats (van de 25) gefinisht in de eerste etappen van de Mini Pavois. De tweede, langste en laatste etappe start zondag 9 maart.
